In children, power less than -3 is mild and the cylindrical axis is due to Astigmatism. Astigmatism is a refractive error with the difficulty to focus at certain angle. The light entering the eye is refracted more in one direction than the other and only one part of the object is focussed at one time. Myopia which is short sight some times progresses and usually stops by puberty or it will not increase further. So better care of the eyes must be taken.

Medicated ghee known as Divya MahaTriphala Ghrit can be given for 6months and reviewed.

Eat healthy foods like carrots, spinach, broccoli, bell peppers, gooseberry. Try to watch television with proper distance and read or write with proper light. Include outdoors play with more sunlight. Practise gentle eye exercises as much as possible by closing the eyes, watching a candle flame for 3-4min and some eye movements that exercise the eyes.Have regular eye checkups and wear spectacles which will help to focus and correct the sight.

Hello,

Astigmatism can happen due to several reasons. It is mainly seen to be a genetic defect due to the curvature of eye.

This condition can be corrected in ayurveda. Currently an ayurvedic group by the name Sreedhari has found excellent result in healing this condition through ayurvedic technique. This hospital has the best ayurvedic doctors from the ophthalmologic department in ayurveda. They have branches across india in several states as well.

Here i shall suggest you certain medicines and home remedies which are helpful.

  1. Netral capsule (Manufactured by agnivesha pharmacy) - This shall be taken at a dosage of 1/2 capsule twice daily after food with milk. It is found helpful in correcting refracting errors.

  2. Include food which is rich in both vitamin A and B. The food rich in vitamin A include Spinach, sweet potato, carrot, winter squash. Food which is rich in vitamin B include Avocado, beefs, eggs and poultries.

Hello,

This condition, otherwise known as astigmatism, is genetically determined and is present from birth. Because of some difference in the shape of cornea, light enters differently to retina and thus end up in blurred vision.

This power is usually stable and she needs to use spetacles regularly for a better quality of vision. Depending upon her eyes, how she take care of it and genetic heritage, it may get worse later or it may even get better.

You can however help your daughter to improve her vision by giving proper nutrients and vitamins along with eye exercises.

Give her food rich in vitamin B,C, calcium, magnesium and zinc like carrots spinach, bilberry, eggs, wheat germ, garlic, seafood, asparagus, beans, watermelon, grapes etc in appropriate quantity. Do not strain her eyes by making her watch TV for long hours..Ayurvedic medicines like Amalaki Rasayana for internal usage Saptamrit Lauh which are helpful in your condition. However those medicines are given in smaller doses and if necessary, it is better to consult an Ayurvedic doctor For that i advise you to take her to an eye specialist in ayurveda (MD in SHALAKYA TANTRA).
