My wife has suffered from hypertension for 14 years and recently we came to know that her kidneys were shrunkened to 7.5cms size. Her creatinine level is 2.5mg, Uric acid is 6.8, Protein in urine (24hrs collection) 743. Doctors were told that there is no possibility to recover. Please help me out possibilities to bring back kidneys to normal state. Her current age is 40yrs.

Increased creatinine, excess protein in urine and other tests like GFR suggests the function of the kidney. So please do have regular checkups and take the medicines as advised. Please let me know all the blood tests to guide you further. Some congenital kidney problems will be progressing and in that case temporary dialysis will be beneficial. Regular checkups must be taken to avoid complications.

Ayurvedic medicines like Punarnavadi kvath - 15ml with 60ml of warm water before food twice daily, Organanic Liver Kidney care and Divya Gokshuradi Guggulu can be taken for a month and reviewed.

Include cinnamon, turmeric, cucumber, gokshura, berries, cumin and coriander. Reduce excess fried foods, salt, legumes, proteins, mushrooms, asparagus, peas and meat. Take good rest and follow the specific diet restrictions advised based on your blood test reports.

Hello sir,

As, there is shrunken kindneys and protien in urine is more than the normal (normal values below 150 mg/dl for 24 hours), and abnormal creatinine levels and uric acid levels. Hence you need to be careful about taking any medicines, even ayurvedic or homeopathic.

however, you can consult personally with a ayurvedic physician, so that you can proceed for the needful.

To enhance healthy lifestyle she can follow yoga and pranayama as needed.

with regards,Dr. Vijay.
