There are successful Weight loss therapies mentioned in Ayurveda along with many add on therapies. However there is a criteria to assess weight gain or obesity by considering many parameters and factors like body mass index, body fat index etc, by considering all these factors weight gain can be classified as over weight category, obesity type I, Obesity type II or morbid obesity. Before proceeding with any type of treatments, it is better to get proper screening for weight reduction. Once screening is done, one can rule out any associated complaints like diabetes, hypertension, dysplipidemia, hypothyroidism, PCOD in females etc to be taken into consideration.

With the help of diet, modified lifestyle, plus medications and treatments, one can control weight or reduce weight from obesity level.

If you talk about diet, one can follow proper diet by starting morning breakfast which is heavy and later on one should minimize the quantity of food. Cut down fat foods and try to follow fiber rich food.

To control or reduce weight, start with Kapal Bati pranayama, then start doing Suryanamaskara, Paschimottanasana, Veerabadrasana, Dandasana, Poorvottanasana, Naukasana, Halasana, Shalabasana are indicated to reduce weight.

One can start using the following medicines such as Medohar Vati, Triphala Guggulu, and Gugguluhills one-one tablet twice daily and medicines may vary from person to person depending on the complaints which are associated with.
