Ref. Stage IV Colon Cancer Patient

Ankit1983, 7 July 2014 3:02  this question feed

Dear Sir, It would be great if you could advise us on the below case history-

My Mother (68/F) was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer last year. She was given a surgery to remove a tumour from large intestine and thereafter 9 cycles of chemotherapy with the combination of 5FU & Erbitux medicine. The 9th cycle has completed around 2 months back and Doctor has advised a break of 3 months considering her age.

The latest PET scan depicts that there is a lot of improvement but we know that we cannot cure the disease at this stage and only prolong the life with quality.

So I would like to know if I can start any ayurvedic or homeopathic treatment in this period which we can continue along with further chemos (if doctor advise the same on our next consultation which is after a month or two)

If Yes, which would be a better option Ayurvedic or Homeopathic and where to consult ?

I will highly appreciate your precious advise.

Thank you !

Ayurvedic Medicine

Colon cancer stage 4 has 2substages in which the cancer has spread to one site far away from the colon and widelyspread to different organs. So generally, the course of treatment varies in each person. Because of the combination of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy the prognosis has become better. So you can consult an Ayurvedic doctor for a physical examination and with all your mother's reports.

Ayurvedic medicines can be given along with the other treatments which will help to prevent the further growth and also will help to give some energy during the chemotherapy.

Medicines like Varunadi kasayam - 15ml with 60ml of warm water before food, Divya Kanchnar Guggulu, Aswagandadi lehyam - 1tsp before food twice daily can be taken for a month and then reviewed.

Include more antioxidants, berries, avocados, olive oil, capsicum, oranges, carrot, kale, pomegranates, legumes. Avoid excess sugar, salt and fried foods. Practise Pranayamam and meditation to improve the general well being.
