Ayurvedic Medicine

Hello Madam,

As you have undergone surgery, there are chances that you may suffer from bowel disorders which is common after surgery. Meanwhile we need to understand many associated causes and contributory factors related to constipation. In your case, there may be post surgery issues and if there is no enough bowel movement, you may feel constipated. Moreover if you are not able to follow proper diet, and if you are consuming less fiber, there are chances of getting constipated. However, in Ayurveda there are good medicines for bowel movements. Before that if you have any digestion related issues, that has to be corrected. If you have constipation alone, you may consume the following medicines such as Divya Avipattikar Choorna which is good medicine for chronic constipation. Even you can consider consuming Nityam Churna, however if you are consuming such medicines from long time, then it is better to consult an Ayurvedic doctor for propler evaluation of your history and followed by which you can get enough medical assitance.

In food activities, you can concentrate well on fiber rich food and meanwhile you may reduce oily foods and spicy foods.Even one has to rule out for ano rectal disorders and hence it is advisable to meet doctor as the earliest.

Thanks and Regards,Dr. Vijay Kumar.

Adhesions are seen after surgery which may cause obstruction of bowel movements or constipation. As it is formed after surgery, it is a complicated issue to correct it later. If there are severe symptoms, certain investigations may be advised to know it better. You can take Ayurvedic medicines to regularise your bowel movements which may ease the symptoms.

Medicines like Abaya aristam - 25ml after food twice daily and Triphala powder can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Applying castor oil in the lower abdomen may help to improve the bowel movements. Include fiber, raisins, ginger, garlic, complex carbohydrates, asafoetida, prunes, figs, yam, pepper and buttermilk. Drink enough water. Yogasanas like Vajrasana, pavanamuktasana, baddha konasana, ardhamatsyendrasana, ustrasana, malasana will be benficial. Try not to suppress the urge of defeacation which may also trigger the obstruction.
